The work
What is it like to work at SSI?
You split time between our Portage machine shop and plant sites across the Region. The equipment is big, the work is varied, and safety comes first on every job.
Field and shop
Some days you are on a mill floor during an outage. Other days you are in the Portage shop building the part that gets it running.
Safety culture
JHA on every job, lockout/tagout, confined space and hot work programs. Anyone on the crew can raise a hazard and make the safe call.
Learn from the crew
Work next to millwrights, welders and machinists who will show you how it is done right, and why.
Real work, real stakes
We answer a 24/7 emergency line. When a line goes down, your work is what gets a plant running again.
